Headless Clevis Pin Dimensions (ISO 2340 / DIN 1434, 3 to 100 mm)
Guide ยท Updated October 28, 2026
ISO 2340 covers clevis pins without head (it replaced DIN 1433/1434), 3 to 100 mm. Values agree between the ISO 2340:1986 preview (iTeh), the fasten.it ISO 2340 table and Engineering Hardware. fasteners.eu also agrees from 4 mm. Check your supplier for critical work.

Step by step
- Pick the pin size: d, 3 to 100 mm, tolerance h11.
- Pick the split pins: Type B has a split pin hole near each end. d1 (H13) is the hole size, and it matches the ISO 1234 split pin size.
- Check the end distance: le is the minimum distance from the hole centre to the pin end. The holes are usually l minus 2 le apart.
- Order it: Designate as Clevis pin ISO 2340 - B - 10 x 40 - St.

Worked example: 10 mm headless clevis pin
A 10 x 40 type B pin has 3.2 mm split pin holes at least 4.5 mm from each end. That leaves no more than 31 mm between hole centres for the clevis and rod, so allow for washers and split pin legs.
Common problems
- Split pin will not fit: use the d1 size, not the pin size.
- Pin walks out: check both split pins are in and spread.
- Clevis binds: add an ISO 8738 washer under each split pin.
FAQ
What is ISO 2340?
A plain clevis pin with no head, 3 to 100 mm. Type A has no holes. Type B has a split pin hole at each end. It replaced DIN 1433 and DIN 1434.
How is it different from ISO 2341?
ISO 2341 has a head on one end and one split pin hole. ISO 2340 has no head, so it needs a split pin or retaining ring at both ends. d1, c and le are the same series.
Which split pin fits?
Use the ISO 1234 split pin whose nominal size equals d1. For alternating side loads, ISO recommends the next larger split pin and hole.
