Cross-Grip Knob Dimensions (DIN 6335, 32 to 100 mm)

Guide ยท Updated October 28, 2026

DIN 6335 covers cross-grip (four-lobe) hand knobs for jigs, fixtures and machines, knob diameter 32 to 100 mm, thread M6 to M20, Forms A to E. Knob diameter, thread, hub diameter d4 and thread length t2 agree across the Elesa+Ganter DIN 6335 catalog, the JW Winco DIN 6335 sheet and the Wegertseder DIN 6335 sheet. Total height h1, hub height h2 and bore depth t1 agree across Elesa+Ganter and JW Winco. Skipped: Form A blank heights, the small 20 and 25 mm aluminum sizes, d3 and d6, and weights. Check the current edition or your supplier for critical work.

Step by step

  1. Pick the knob size: Choose knob diameter d1 from 32 to 100 mm. Bigger knobs give more torque by hand.
  2. Match the thread: Each size takes one thread: 32 mm M6 up to 100 mm M20.
  3. Pick the form: Form A is a raw blank, B a plain H7 through bore, C an H7 blind bore, D a tapped through bore, E a tapped blind bore.
  4. Check the height: Total height h1 and hub height h2 tell you how far the knob stands off the part.
  5. Check bore depth: On blind-bore forms, minimum depth t1 tells you the longest stud you can fit; t2 is the thread length.
  6. Order it: Designate as DIN 6335 E 50 M10 (form, knob diameter, thread).

DIN 6335 cross-grip knob dimensions (mm)

Columns: knob diameter d1, thread d2 (Forms D and E; Forms B and C take the matching H7 bore), hub diameter d4, total height h1 and hub height h2 (Forms B to E), minimum blind bore depth t1 and thread length t2, as lettered in the Elesa+Ganter and JW Winco sheets.

Worked example: 50 mm knob on an M10 stud

DIN 6335 E 50 M10 stands 32 mm tall on an 18 mm hub 18 mm high, with 16 mm of thread in a blind bore at least 18 mm deep. Keep the stud under 16 mm of engagement or switch to Form D so it can pass through.

FAQ

What is a DIN 6335 cross-grip knob?

A four-lobe hand knob (Kreuzgriff, also called a palm grip or hand knob) for jigs, fixtures and machine adjustments, usually cast iron, also stainless steel and aluminum.

DIN 6335 vs DIN 6336?

DIN 6335 has four lobes and runs 32 to 100 mm with one thread per size. DIN 6336 star knobs have five lobes, stop at 80 mm and offer two threads at 50, 63 and 80 mm.

Form D vs Form E?

Form D has a tapped through bore so a long stud can pass through. Form E has a tapped blind bore with a closed top.

Why are some columns missing?

Form A blank heights are lettered differently between catalogs, and the 20 and 25 mm sizes, collar diameter d3 and through-hole d6 appear in only one source, so we left them out rather than guess.

Which values are best checked?

Knob diameter, thread, hub diameter and thread length t2 match across three catalogs. Total height, hub height and bore depth come from two catalogs in the same supplier group; check your supplier for critical work.
