Step by step

  1. Pick the length: Choose l1 by the torque you need, e.g. 80 mm for an M10 clamp.
  2. Pick the type: K straight plain bore, M straight threaded, L angled plain bore, N angled threaded.
  3. Check the bore: Threaded types take d1; plain types have an H7 bore d2 to pin onto a shaft.
  4. Check the clearance: For angled types allow h and lever length l2 to swing clear.

DIN 99 clamping lever dimensions (mm)

Columns: lever length l1, thread d1 (types M and N), H7 bore d2 (types K and L), hub b, d3, d4 approx, d5, height h approx and lever length l2 approx (angled types).

Worked example: 80 mm lever

A DIN 99 80 M10 N lever is threaded M10, has a 20 mm hub end d5 and in angled form stands about 38 mm high with a 76 mm lever length.

FAQ

What is DIN 99 used for?

One-piece steel levers for clamping fixtures, machine slides and adjusting spindles.

Why are some b and h cells dashes?

Hub b differs from 63 mm up (Ganter, Elesa and Hanser give 12, 14.5, 18.5, 24, 30, 40; Schiltz gives 12.5, 15, 19, 25, 31, 41). h differs at 63 mm (30 vs 30.5) and 160 mm (75.7 vs 76). Those cells are left blank.

Which sizes come straight?

Straight types K and M are sold from 50 to 160 mm; 200 mm is angled only (L and N).

Is there a 40 mm size?

Ganter notes the DIN sheet also lists 40 mm with M5 or B5, but few suppliers stock it.
