Step by step

  1. Match the thread: One boss is left-hand (marked L), the other right-hand.
  2. Pick the ends: Fit hooks, eyes or weld ends (DIN 34828) to suit the load.
  3. Check the length: Use l1 for the body and the adjustment range for take-up.
  4. Do not overload: DIN 1480 bodies are not rated lifting gear; check the supplier load rating.

Common problems

FAQ

What is DIN 1480?

A forged open-frame turnbuckle body (Spannschlossmutter, offene Form) with one right-hand and one left-hand threaded boss.

How is it different from DIN 1479?

DIN 1479 is a closed hex bar body; DIN 1480 is an open forged frame you can see the rod ends through.

Why are some cells dashed?

d2 at M30 conflicts (45 in DIN vs 46 at Fuller), and d2, e and h above M30 appear in only one source.

Why no M14 or M56?

M14 is a supplier size not in the DIN table, and M56 appears in only one source.
