Step by step

  1. Pick the ball size: d1 must match the DIN 71803 ball stud, e.g. 13 mm.
  2. Pick the thread: d2 is the rod thread, right or left hand, e.g. M8.
  3. Check the length: a is overall socket length and e the min thread depth.
  4. Pick the form: A has a snap ring; B adds a hole and groove for a safety clip at l2.

Columns: ball d1, thread d2, length a, d3, body d4, thread depth e min, l1, form B clip position l2.

Worked example: 13 mm socket on M8

A DIN 71805 B13 M8 socket is 30 mm long with a 19.3 mm body and at least 14 mm of M8 thread. It fits a 13 mm DIN 71803 ball stud.

Common problems

FAQ

What is DIN 71805 used for?

The socket half of a DIN 71802 angled ball joint, used on linkages, gas springs and control rods.

Why is e at 16 mm dashed?

Leitner gives 16 mm, while Bonnekamp, Powertrans and Fusco give 15.5 mm, so the cell is left blank.

Is there a long version?

Yes, Gebert sells a long form B (e.g. a 45 mm at 13 mm ball); only one source lists it, so it is not charted.

Can I use left hand thread?

Yes, most suppliers offer d2 in left hand for turnbuckle adjustment.
