Step by step

  1. Identify the thread: DIN 910 comes in metric fine (DIN 13) and G pipe thread (ISO 228-1); check pitch before ordering.
  2. Check clearance: The hex head needs wrench room above the port; check l and s.
  3. Pick the wrench: Use a socket or ring spanner of size s; the head is m high.
  4. Seal it: Fit a DIN 7603 ring or bonded seal under the collar; parallel thread does not seal.

DIN 910 hex head screw plug dimensions (mm)

Columns: thread d1 (metric fine and/or G), collar diameter d2, collar height c, thread length i, overall length l, width across flats s, width across corners e min, head height m.

Worked example: M20x1.5 plug

An M20x1.5 DIN 910 plug has a 25 mm collar, 4 mm thick, 14 mm of thread and is 26 mm long overall. It takes a 19 mm spanner on an 8 mm high head.

Common problems

FAQ

What is DIN 910?

A heavy screw plug with collar and external hex head, parallel thread, used on gearbox, hydraulic and oil ports.

How is it different from DIN 908?

DIN 908 has a hex socket and sits nearly flush; DIN 910 has an external hex head for a spanner.

Why are some values majority values?

One table gives s 17 at M14x1.5, m 8 at M16x1.5 and G3/8, and another gives s 17 at G1/2; three sources agree on 13, 6 and 19, so we use those.

Why is e 26.17 at M30?

One sheet shows 29.17, a typo; the hex is 24 like M26 and M27, and the other source gives 26.17.

Why are some cells dashed?

G1 3/4 i conflicts (16 vs 20), G2 s and M52 l and e appear in only one source. M56 to M64 are left out for the same reason.
